Over Twenty years experience teaching all ages and abilities, from Riding school, Pony Club dressage to show jumping. I am available for private or group tuition, providing a professional and friendly service. Offering training and preparation for BHS Stages to teaching private horse owners. I focus on giving confidence to horse and rider.

I am well known for my musical ride clinics, confidence and goal setting to develop private hores owners to build a partnership between horse and rider.

I started riding and being involved in the world of horses at the tender age of 4 when my mother took me to our local riding school; I became hooked! I then started to compete at local shows and I excelled jumping at BSJA Level on my own and shared horses.

College was the next step where I studied my National Diploma in the Management of Horses, my Stages 1, 2, 3 and Riding & Road Safety. Whilst at College I continued to compete frequently in Dressage, Show Jumping and 1 Day Event Cross Country. I have currently been working for the same riding school for the last 22 years, I have now decided to go on and teach freelance aiming to help people who have their own horses, i have taken my Stage 4 flat and care.

22 years ago I started working as a Riding Instructor, have my own horses and have taught my own children to ride who also compete at BSJA events (who are in my Gallery) and whom I am very proud to say are riding at a great standard. I have many years of experience with coaching through a riding school and private horse owners who want to improve and go on with their goals and achievements be it a private lesson or a group session. I have taught beginners to experienced riders from young children to celebrities.

For my own personal development I am now training with Pammy Huttan and the Talland team to take my furthur BHS exams progressing in my dressage to a much higher standard.

I love to teach a wide variety of clients with differing needs and I am thoroughly enjoying my chosen career. I look forward to hearing from all you private horse owners, however if you do not have your own horses I can teach you at Chessington Equestrian Centre.

Testimonials

"My daughter has been fortunate to learn from Marie from the age of 4. Now 10 years later, it's a testament to Marie's ability to tailor every lesson to the individual, give them the confidence, opportunity (and the occasional push!) that Lucy's never been bored, enjoyed every minute and has progressed from lead rein to independent riding, and is now sharing her own horse. I know that we can trust Marie's advice on anything equestrian - and that's priceless! "

"I came back into riding in my mid fifties after a long absence out of the saddle. I was fortunate to have Marie give me my assessment lesson and decided then and there to continue having lessons with her. I have now been having lessons with her for over 3 years and can honestly say that I have never been bored. Marie always plans her lessons in advance and as such they are always interesting and aimed at improving your riding ability. Thanks to Marie I now own my own horse on which I continue to have lessons with her. One of her biggest assets to me as an older rider is her ability to instill confidence in me and get me to have faith in my riding ability, whatever happens Marie always manages to help me get my confidence back and feel good about myself again. This doesn’t mean though that she is a push over as I’ve had some of my hardest lessons with her but she has a natural talent in knowing when to push me and when not to which to me is a very valuable skill"

"In a year Marie has provided opportunities for me - as a rusty 60 year old! - to learn more about riding and horse care than I ever thought possible.Through individual lessons and group coffee mornings my confidence has grown, due to her ‘You can do it’ coaching approach. ‘Relax!’ and ‘ more effort!’ really do go together. Now, rather than just hack, I’ve experienced gymkhana fun, dressage moves, jumping attempts and even a cross country taster. Surprises always await! …. Thanks Marie"
